Need a break, but you work in Excel all day? Here are three games that install right inside Excel – free, with no subscription. Open one in a workbook, and your boss will think you are still working on your spreadsheets.
What's inside
- Cell Bricks – the classic brick-breaker. Aim with the edge of the paddle, use the low shot to clear the side bricks, and watch the ball speed up.
- Cell Snake – eat the apples, grab the star before it vanishes, and don't bite your own tail.
- Blackjack – play up to three spots against the dealer, with real cards, split and double down.
How to start
- Download the zip and unblock it before you unzip it (right-click > Properties > Unblock). Windows blocks the macros of any file downloaded from the internet: see Microsoft has blocked macros from running.
- Open a game and click Enable Content.
- Click START.

Requirements
Windows and the Excel desktop app, version 2010 or later (Microsoft 365 included). The games do not run in Excel Online or on a Mac.
FAQ
Is it safe? Yes. The games only draw on their own sheet and don't touch your other files (Cell Bricks just saves a small log of your last game next to the workbook).
Why do I have to enable macros? The games are programs written in VBA. Windows blocks macros in files downloaded from the Internet until you allow them.
Can I share the games? Yes, as long as the files are unchanged.
