Once your document is structured, StyleCleaner lets you compose your own house style and apply it everywhere at once: fonts, heading colors, numbering (1.2.3 · A.B.C · I.II.III · even Greek letters), bullets, spacing and indents — with a live preview that updates as you choose. Set it once, reuse it on every document you write.

Getting started
Two steps, about three minutes in total.
1. Install the add-in in Word
- Download the installation file (right-click › Save link as…).
- In Word, go to Insert › Add-ins › My Add-ins.
- Click Upload My Add-in (top right of the window), pick the file you have just saved, then click Upload.
- A StyleCleaner button appears in your Hometab, on the right. Click it — the pane opens on the side.
Nothing is installed on your computer: an add-in lives inside Word, and you can remove it at any time from the same menu.
2. Activate your license key
- After your purchase, your key (
SC-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) appears on the confirmation page and arrives by e-mail. - Scroll to the bottom of the StyleCleaner pane, to theLicense box.
- Paste your key and click Activate. That's it — you'll never be asked again on this computer.
3. Clean up your first document
- Open the document, click Analyze document.
- For each formatting group found, pick the Word style it should become — Heading 1, Heading 2, Body text…
- Click Apply styles. Open Word's navigation pane (View › Navigation) and watch your document structure appear.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my license on two computers?
Yes — a desktop and a laptop, for example. The third one will be refused, but you can free up a device yourself: open the pane on the computer you no longer use and clickRelease this device. No need to contact us.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. You need to be online once, the first time you activate your key. After that StyleCleaner works offline — on a plane, on a train, or if our site is down.
What happens when my pass or license expires?
StyleCleaner quietly goes back to its free version. Nothing is charged, nothing is cancelled, and nothing you've already done to your documents is undone. Buy another pass whenever you need one.
Which versions of Word does it work with?
Microsoft Word 2016 or later, on Windows and on Mac — the desktop version. It also opens in Word on the web, where one feature is missing: page ranges, because Word on the web has no page numbering to rely on.
Is my document sent anywhere?
No. StyleCleaner reads and edits your document inside Word, on your own machine. The only thing that ever travels to our server is your license key, to check that it is valid.
I bought a pass but my key doesn't work
Check that you copied the whole key, including
the SC- at the start, and that you have no extra space at the
end. If it still refuses, write to us with your order number — we'll sort
it out the same day.
Can I get a license for my whole team?
Yes. If you need StyleCleaner on 5, 20 or 50 machines, get in touch and we'll set up a company license — it works out far cheaper than buying individual ones.
